Cinnamon Sugar Nuts September 29, 2012

My family and I love the cinnamon nuts that are sold in the malls during the holidays, or at football stadium concession stands. I was looking through one of my mom’s ward cookbooks and found a recipe she had contributed. I also found this simple recipe for homemade cinnamon sugar nuts. This recipe comes from our friend Deanne. I knew we had to try this recipe. The cinnamon mixture smelled so good when I was stirring it. It reminded me of the upcoming holidays, fall, and football.

You can use any kind of nuts you want.  Such as: almonds, pecans or walnuts. We recommend going to Costco and buying a big bag of nuts, we had a bag of almonds in our pantry.


Cinnamon Sugar Nuts


3 cups walnuts or walnut pieces (we used almonds)

1 cup sugar

½ cup water

1 tsp cinnamon

1 and ½ tsps vanilla

1 tsp salt


Bring sugar, water, cinnamon, and salt to a boil.

Bring to a softball stage, stirring constantly approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Stop once or twice to let the mixture boil for a minute.

Take off heat. Add vanilla, and pour in nuts.  Stir until well coated.

Then, pour onto a cookie sheet lined with wax paper. Cool, then store in an air tight container.
