This month’s recipe is a great after school snack for kids; adults love it too. I should know because my family eats it up every time.
The recipe is for 5 Ingredient Granola Bars. I would recommend making a double batch because these granola bars are gone in a snap. This recipe came in our ward Relief Society newsletter so I am not sure of the origin. I love this recipe because it is so easy to make; the fact it is gluten free is an extra plus in my book.
I love making chocolate chip granola bars with flax seed and butter. The last batch of granola bars I made was peanut butter chocolate chip; they are in the picture.
Either kind of granola bar (using peanut butter or butter) is amazing; have fun creating your own combination, the sky is the limit.
I hope everyone enjoys this delicious gluten free snack!
5 Ingredient Granola Bars
2 cups quick oats
1/2 c brown sugar
1/2 c honey
1/2 c peanut butter OR 1 stick butter, softened
3/4 c raisins, dried cherries or cranberries, M&Ms, mini chocolate chips, sunflower seeds, sliced almonds, or anything you like. (I add flax seed)
Preheat oven to 350. Spray a 9 x 13 pan with cooking spray or line with foil and spray.
Mix all ingredients in a large bowl. Press into prepared pan and bake about 18 minutes, or until light golden brown.
Cool 5 minutes. Cut into squares or rectangles, and cool completely; store in an airtight container. This recipe makes 18 bars.
